Almost daily, we’re confronted with new issues that command our outrage. Frequently they’re issues we\u00a0should<\/em> pay attention to, but the constant churn can be exhausting and it can too often distract us from larger problems that we could actually be doing something about.<\/p>\n

A World in Dire Need<\/h2>\n

Fewer than 30%<\/strong> of people in the world have a saving faith in Jesus Christ, so more than 100,000<\/strong> people die every day eternally separated from God.1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

44%<\/strong> of the world \u2014 3.6 billion<\/strong> people \u2014 live where there are not enough Christians to reach them with the Gospel.2<\/a><\/sup> Two-thirds of them have never heard the Gospel even once<\/em>.3<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

At least 2 billion<\/strong> people do not have a full Bible in their language \u2014 25%<\/strong> of the world. 544<\/strong> languages don\u2019t even have a Bible translation started.4<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

In America 36 million<\/strong> people live below the poverty line5<\/a><\/sup>, and 20%<\/strong> of American aren\u2019t sure where their next meal is coming from.6<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Around the world, 720 million<\/strong> people are chronically hungry7<\/a><\/sup> \u2014 1 out of every 11<\/strong> people \u2014 and 10%<\/strong> of the world lives in extreme poverty, existing on less than $3.00 a day.8<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

13,000<\/strong> children under five years old die every 24 hours, almost all of them from causes that are entirely preventable \u2014 4.8 million<\/strong> children every year9<\/a><\/sup>. If you slept 8 hours last night, over 4,400<\/strong> children died while you slept.<\/p>\n

In America, almost 900,000<\/strong> babies are aborted every year10<\/a><\/sup> \u2014 60 million and counting<\/strong> since 1973.11<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

At any given time, 50 million<\/strong> people around the world are held in modern slavery.12<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Over 10 million<\/strong>\u00a0of them are children.\u00a04.8 million<\/strong> are in forced sexual exploitation, including 1 million <\/strong>children as young as 3 or 4 years old.13<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Thousands every year have their virginity auctioned to the highest bidder.14<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In the U.S. alone, an estimated 200,000 children<\/b> are trafficked for sex every year, many as young as just 11 or 12 years old.16<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Cause for Despair?<\/h2>\n

When you consider that this isn’t even a complete list of major issues, it’s easy to believe that the task is so monumental that we could never hope to make meaningful progress.<\/p>\n

The truth, though, is that we already have everything we need<\/a>.<\/p>\n
